Vehicles, restoration and passengers

A roadside wreck can become your way home. Inspect its missing parts, fuel and battery before trying to start it.

Afterfall 0.14.0Java 1.21.1NeoForge

Restore a wreck

  1. Hold G to inspect a roadside or parking-lot wreck. Rewire an unowned ignition in ten real seconds to claim it and receive a key; team members and key holders can drive.
  2. Install a suitable engine and battery, with at least 5% battery charge, and the correct fuel. A wrench installs/removes parts while stopped with the engine off. Repair parts at a vehicle workbench.
  3. Refuel from a fuel can with the engine off: five real seconds; cans hold ten litres. Low oil wears the engine five times faster.
  4. Use V for the dashboard and Y for a seatbelt. Crashes can damage vehicle integrity, engine, tires and unbelted occupants.

The vehicle should start when its required parts, fuel and charge pass validation. If it does not, inspect those conditions individually. Aircraft also require Piloting and planes need about 96 blocks of runway.

Definition comparison

Speed is flat-road base blocks per real second, not a promised trip speed. Cargo is slots; fuel use is litres per 1,000 blocks. Load, terrain, condition and controls affect travel.

There are 20 VehicleDef entries; older “18 vehicles” comments are stale. The trailer’s definition speed is not proof of a drivable engine. The 24 part definitions cover tires, batteries, engines, aircraft parts, controls, hitch/rack/armor, navigation and cargo refrigeration.

Passengers and packing

Following companions and escorted travellers board a free passenger seat when you board a stopped vehicle. Within eight blocks they board; up to 24 they approach first. They leave when you get out and it stops or the escort completes. No seat produces a notice and normal following. This is not an autonomous stranger bus service.

Sneak-use packs an empty eligible vehicle while preserving its state. Motor-vehicle pickup is restricted to creative players and operators by default; a server setting can allow survival pickup. Aircraft, bus and RV are excluded. Packed item names do not imply survival crafting recipes. A parked furniture bicycle instead converts once into a rideable bicycle with claim BUILD/BREAK checks.

Impacts and dealerships

Below four blocks/s, land contact nudges. From four blocks/s, a hit in the travel direction deals default 1.5 × speed, capped at 30 damage, costing vehicle integrity 0.1 × damage and slowing it. Running over players is enabled by default through a separate setting from ordinary PvP, with claim PvP, team/friendly-fire, creative/spectator and passenger/deck exclusions.

Revision-10 dealerships have lot cars, matching keys and service/parts rooms. Lot cars tend to have better condition but may need fuel/battery. The lift and car wash are decorative. No speed benchmark, escort ride or player-impact test was run for this wiki.
