Match the OS and JVM architecture

OS means your operating system, such as Windows, macOS or Linux. JVM means the Java software running Minecraft.

Linux ARM64 maps to linux-arm64.zip; Linux x86_64 to linux.zip; macOS ARM64 to macos-arm64.zip; macOS x86_64 to macos.zip; Windows x86_64 to windows.zip. Windows ARM64 has no packaged FFmpeg ZIP despite the classifier path.

Explanatory diagram of reported behavior; no new gameplay or playback test is claimed.

Binaries contains FFmpeg, the extra software WaterMedia uses to read video and sound. Your operating system and the kind of Java running Minecraft determine which copy it uses. Check both before reporting a playback problem.

There is no packaged Windows ARM64 FFmpeg ZIP. The code selects a Windows ARM64 file that is absent from this JAR. This was confirmed by inspecting the file contents; the wiki has not reproduced a launch failure. A Windows ARM64 helper download does not supply the missing decoder payload. No 32-bit, emulation or translation support is promised.

Packaged platform table

Computer and running JavaPackaged playback software

Linux with x86_64 JavaIncluded
macOS with ARM64 JavaIncluded
macOS with x86_64 JavaIncluded
Windows with x86_64 JavaIncluded
Windows with ARM64 JavaMissing from this build

“Included” means the file is present, not that playback was tested on that computer. ARM64 and x86_64 name processor types; the Java installation actually running your game matters as well as the computer itself. Use the launcher’s Java details when reporting a problem. No emulation or translation setup has been tested.

The download is about 137.07 MiB. It contains software for several platforms; one selected platform’s unpacked files total roughly 51–93 MiB. These are file sizes, not a memory requirement. Exact archive counts and sizes are in the reference below.

Preparation and reuse

When the game starts, the companion chooses the files for your computer and prepares them if needed. It can reuse files with a matching version. Startup logs record the chosen version and location; there is no single folder guaranteed for every launcher.

On the server, the companion skips unpacking FFmpeg. In the supplied Afterfall setup, playback clients need both media JARs and the dedicated server does not require the optional pair. That is an integration-specific instruction, not a universal WaterMedia side rule.

Files being unpacked does not prove the game can load them, play media or use graphics acceleration. No archive was extracted or loaded for this wiki task. No filesystem or launcher changes are offered as tested fixes.

Declared compatibility

For the supplied Afterfall setup, use Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.252 and Java 21, with WaterMedia 3.0.0.23 and Binaries 3.0.0.6. The pair was not launched in the reports.

Other loaders and Minecraft versions appear in the file’s labels. Follow the mod’s exact release instructions; broad labels do not confirm every combination. The technical declarations are retained below.

Member counts include version.cfg. MiB means bytes divided by 1,048,576; the per-platform sizes above retain the report’s rounded values. Exact per-platform byte totals were not supplied in the PDF table and have not been reconstructed from rounded figures.

The distributed JAR is 143,725,808 bytes / 137.07 MiB. All five payloads together have 387,657,517 expanded member bytes / about 369.70 MiB. A single selected archive totals approximately 51–93 MiB in expanded members. The aggregate is not one client’s extraction requirement, measured disk allocation or RAM use.

Declared compatibility metadata

Required main libraryWaterMedia >=3.0.0.22; supplied pair uses 3.0.0.23; future compatibility unproven
Local consumerMinecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge; Afterfall target NeoForge 21.1.252; Java 21 required by local instructions
Fabric metadataJava >=17, Fabric Loader >=0.14; metadata floor does not replace local Java 21
Packaged loadersFabric, Forge, NeoForge bootstraps; presence is not a launch test
NeoForge metadatajavafml, loaderVersion [3,)
Forge loaderVersionLiteral [[40,41),[43,44),[47,48),[52,53),[61,62); parser behavior not tested

File labelRelease; changelog uses RC wording; no runtime certification

The Forge loaderVersion declaration differs from the main library’s reported string. Preserve both separately; no parser or cross-loader compatibility test resolves that difference here.

Classifier and environment paths

On Windows ARM64 the requested path is libs/ffmpeg-windows-arm64.zip, absent from this build. Server startup skips extraction when clientSide is false.

IOTool.platformClassifier selects windows, macos or linux, appending -arm64 for aarch64 / arm64 JVM architectures. FFmpegBinaries.start formats libs/ffmpeg-%s.zip. The fallback classifies OS names other than Windows/macOS as Linux; it does not prove Linux natives work on those operating systems.

The main library’s normal temp root derives from java.io.tmpdir plus watermedia, but loader bootstraps can supply environment paths. The companion resolves ffmpeg, yt-dlp and botguard under wm.tmp. These are program preparation directories, not world saves or station state. Use actual logs to identify them. Native extraction, reuse, permissions and load behavior remain untested.
