Follow the stage that failed
Explanatory diagram of reported behavior; no new gameplay or playback test is claimed.
A link can be found before its picture or sound is ready. The software that reads the media—the decoder—and your sound or picture output each need to work. A television block opening normally does not prove the linked media loaded. These checks follow the reported code; the wiki has not tested them as fixes.
| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Client refuses to start | The two required media JARs and the versions required by your television or radio mod. A missing-method error may mean the versions do not work together. |
| Feature opens but keeps waiting | Give the link time to load. Note whether the display remains waiting or reports a failure. |
| Link is unavailable | Any error shown for the link, whether its address expired and whether the service is reachable. |
| No linked video/audio | Startup errors from FFmpeg, the software that reads the media. A link being found does not mean playback is ready. |
| Picture without sound | Your selected sound device and the television’s volume. Afterfall TV can show a picture when its sound system is unavailable. |
| Radio has no output | Your receiver, tower and sound device. Linked Afterfall radio cannot play when the sound system is unavailable. |
| One online service fails | Whether that link is still available. Give the server owner relevant errors; one failed link does not establish a service outage. |
| Playback repeatedly restarts or stalls | Avoid repeatedly pressing Play while loading. Report repeated restarts to the mod maintainer. |
| Clients drift apart | Whether everyone has the pair installed and can load the same link. Shared timing is handled by the mod adding the feature. |
| Architecture-specific native problem | Your operating system and the kind of Java running the game; see the companion’s platform guide. |
If comparing an online link with direct media during a later authorized test, use media you control. No sample links, third-party media fetches or helper execution were used for this wiki.
Waiting, buffering and failure
Source discovery is asynchronous. A source may still be fetching even though Play was pressed. After source details are available, player preparation and buffering can still take place. A source error or block is different from waiting; the cause depends on the resolver result and source conditions.
Afterfall waits for loading after starting playback. Repeatedly starting or jumping around while it loads can interfere. Live streams join what is playing now; recorded media can only jump to a shared time when it supports that action and is ready.
Sound and image support
Afterfall TV can try to show a silent picture when the game’s sound system is unavailable. Linked radio needs sound and fails without it. Other mods may handle missing devices differently.
An image or video format listed in the library is not a guarantee that every file plays correctly on your computer. Graphics acceleration is requested by default but has not been confirmed. The reports did not test a collection of files, animated-image quality or playback speed.
Shared playback needs the consuming mod
Each listener needs both media mods installed locally and a working link. The mod adding the television or radio decides who can control it and how listeners follow a shared time. A server tracking that time does not send everyone a finished picture. Live streams and recorded tracks line up differently, so exact timing is not promised.
For Afterfall’s power, controls, towers and music choices, consult television and radio. Its emergency TV fallback and original/server-file radio music remain separate from linked media.

Source states
Resolution, decoder readiness, output-engine availability and synchronization are independent stages. Afterfall uses OpenGL graphics and OpenAL audio; TV can omit unavailable audio, while radio requires it. Consumer code supplies packet/session routing, permissions, target time and startIssued handling; repeated starts can restart the pipeline. Reader/codec registration, native load, GPU operation and decoded-file fidelity were not runtime-tested.
MRL.Status has FETCHING, LOADED, EXPIRED, ERROR, BLOCKED, FORGOTTEN. MediaAPI.mrl(String or URI) supplies the locator. createPlayer can return null while a selected source is fetching or when source/backend availability prevents creation. Check the result before using it.
For Afterfall radio, EXPIRED reloads the MRL and FORGOTTEN requests a new MRL from the original URL. These responses belong to that consumer. ERROR / BLOCKED are unavailable resolution paths rather than guaranteed UI strings.
Player states
The player enum contains WAITING, LOADING, BUFFERING, PLAYING, PAUSED, STOPPED, ENDED, ERROR. The consuming mod decides which messages players see. Its startIssued handling matters because status is published asynchronously; it waits before seeking or restarting.
Useful diagnostic record
Record both media JAR versions and hashes, consuming mod build/hash, Minecraft, loader, Java, OS/JVM architecture, selected native archive/version, helper version if used, source kind and relevant log stage. Remove private links, cookies and tokens from shared excerpts. No real token, cookie or user configuration was inspected here. Cache presence does not prove complete offline playback.
